There's been a feud going on in the town of Reservation for 15 years, with the Barrs on one side, backed by outlaw Ben Maffit and his gang, and the rest of the valley people on the other side. Marshal Jim Majors is sent to bring about peace. He soon realizes that the leaders will never compromise, so instead he gets things riled up. The valley people turn to Dobe Hyde to lead them. Maffit, realizing the balance of power had switched, kills the leader of the Barrs. Majors knows that Hyde will just become the next trouble spot, so he gathers a few good men and takes care of Hyde. He then gathers everyone together and gets them to agree to stop the feud. All is settle except Maffit, who wants to see if he's faster than Majors with a gun. Majors kills him. He ends up with Katherine Barr, the one member of the family who wanted nothing of the fighting.

Review - Sundown Jim

I like Haycox, but this one was too complicated, with too many characters and a plot that would never occur in real life.
