Detective Stuart Bailey is hired by a man to find out about his wife's mysterious past. Supposedly, a blackmailer is threatening to expose it. Bailey's investigation soon has him looking for two women—a former showgirl who is now the wife of a millionaire, and the gangster's girl who stole the gangster's money and the showgirl's identity. The gangster's girl is found dead, and Bailey gets the husband (who hired him) to admit to the killing while keeping the showgirl's past hidden where it belongs.

Review - Double Take, The

Some decent writing, although Huggins gets lost in many a metaphor and simile by trying to be far too clever. The story was interesting, if a little hard to follow.
