| Notes: | First book in a series Short stories consisting of letters and telegrams between Alexander Botts, salesman, and the headquarters of the Earthworm Tractor Company. Botts is a lovable conman with a good heart, a ton of optimism, a bit of canny wisdom, and a lot of luck. He travels around the country selling treaded tractors and has to deal with a lot of unfortunate incidents—often of his own doing—but somehow manages to come out ahead and sell a lot of tractors. In the final story in this collection, he marries Mildred, the daughter of a California Earthworm Tractor dealer. |
