Notes:Subtitle: The Men and Boys Who Flew the B-24s Over Germany 1944-1945

Basically an account of politician George McGovern's experience training for, and fighting in, the AAF. McGovern piloted a B-24 out of Italy in 1944 and 1945. Interviews with other pilots and with other officers are interspersed. There's a lot about how uncomfortable the plane was, and how dangerous German flak was.

Review - Wild Blue, The

It wasn't bad, but it wasn't really "written" either. It consisted of edited interviews, all jumbled one after another in a loose chronological order, with details on number of flights, number of loses, etc.

McGovern is painted as nearly perfect—maybe the best pilot in the AAF and loved by everyone. It got a little sickening at times.
