Notes:Eisenhower's memoirs of his experience as head of the Allied forces in North Africa, Italy (while he was in that theater), and Europe. He gives an overview of the campaigns and battles, his own movements, and the decisions he had to make along the way (and why he decided what he did). He ended with a chapter on the challenges of managing post-war Europe and a chapter on how hard he and the other Americans tried (in vain) to get along with Russia.

Review - Crusade in Europe

An interesting perspective on the challenges of command the the people Eisenhower had to deal with. He was complimentary about almost everyone and even when he had disagreements with people, he was as nice as possible. He came across as someone who would stand firm for what he believed but do it as nicely as possible. He always seemed a bit like someone who stood around a lot, but this book showed me how important he was and how fit he was for the position. It could have used a little more personal touch, but it was written very soon after the war when it would have been easy to rub people the wrong way.
