Review - City of the Dreadful Night
In the first three stories, Kipling insists on writing dialog the way a young boy would talk and it's extremely annoying.
The fourth story was good—about two teenage drummers who called their retreating regiment back to the line and died in the process.
The title story was a long description of the sights, smells, heat, and dirt of Calcutta. I only skimmed it.
