Notes:Tom is a NYC cab driver. One days he picks up Katherine, an attractive landscape architect. She hires him to drive her to L.A. because she has to decide whether or not to accept a proposal of marriage from Barry and she wants time to think before she gets there. It takes them about six days to get there. They have a variety of minor adventures along the way. And they debate feminism and the point of marriage. In the end, Katherine decides she loves Barry but doesn't want to be married, so she hires Tom to take her back to NYC. The book ends with them not getting married but figuring out ways they can be in each other's lives.

Review - Call Me a Cab

Supposed to be a suspense novel without any crime. The only "suspense" was whether or not Katherine would marry Barry, which wasn't suspenseful because I knew how the book would end from the first page, and it wasn't interesting because she was an annoying character. The lectures on feminism were stupid. It was published posthumously to bilk money out of Westlake fans. Whatever reason he had for not publishing it while he was alive was a good one.
