Notes:Subtitle: At the Edge of Chesapeake Bay

The author and his wife buy a house in Tolchester, Maryland, on Chesapeake Bay across from Baltimore. He writes about their search for the house, the boat traffic that passes by, the history of the town (it began as an amusement park/resort), the weather, and his two boat trips on the bay — one on a buoy tender and one of a towboat.

Review - Green Shingles

A mixed bag. The history of the town wasn't bad, nor were his descriptions of things he saw on the bay from his house. The two boat trips were interesting — or would have been if he hadn't used so much technical jargon, or if he had included illustrations. His chapters on building a garage, on his neighbor's dog who always licked him, and on his attempts to sell his paintings were dull. His final chapter, the inevitable environmental doomsday sermon, was annoying. It just didn't feel like he had enough to make a book. I really liked his other book I've read, so this was a big disappointment.
