Notes:Subtitle: Or, Why I Am Not Mark Twain

Bissell, who has written books about life on the Mississippi River, has apparently been called the modern-day Mark Twain. So he wrote this book about his experiences on the river as a deckhand and pilot, as the owner of a houseboat, and in various other adventures. He also writes about Twain—his experiences on the river, his writing, his life and reputation.

Review - My Life on the Mississippi

Weird book that jumps all over the place. Bissell tells his story, but not in chronological order, and mixes it with reviews of Twain, random quotes on the river from other authors, lists of his brother's boats, all sorts of stuff. Hard to get into, although not entirely without interest.
