Notes:First book in The Chronicles of St. Mary's

Madeleine (Max) Maxwell is hired at St. Mary's, an institution that travels back in time to observe historical moments and produce accurate accounts of events, locations, participants, etc. Max is one of the historians who travel. The book covers her training and first missions. In one, her partner attempts to rape and kill her, but is, in turn, attacked by Ronan, another time-traveler who is trying to use St. Mary's equipment for his own profit. In another, Max and her team travel back to the age of dinosaurs and blows up the camp where Ronon is offering time tourists a chance to hunt dinosaurs. In another, Max goes back in time to rescue Farrell, her boyfriend, who's been stranded in time. And, finally, the whole team goes to Alexandria to save scrolls from the library while it's burning. They're attacked by Ronan, but manage to defeat him.

Review - Just One Damned Thing After Another

So much potential, but it just didn't pull it off. Too many extraneous characters. Too much time spent on planning and detail, but then it just zips through the exciting parts. I was questioning whether I wanted to continue when I got to the part where Max is kicked out of St. Mary's and manages to go back alone to rescue Farrell, but that was followed up a couple of chapters of resetting the plot and planning the next mission, and the excitement died.
