Certainly not deep. Way too much swearing. The author is woke but no egregious about it. Likeable characters.

| Notes: | Billy Perkins, Baltimore piano teacher, lives above a record store with his high-school son Caleb. Caleb spends half his time with his mother, Robyn and her husband. When watching a rock documentary, Billy mentions to Caleb that he had a huge crush on Margot Hammer, drummer for an all-girl band that has long since broken up. Caleb, thinking his dad is lonely, fakes a publicity stunt and invites Margot. When she shows up at the record store, he has to apologize. Billy grabs the opportunity to ask Margot out to a bar. She shows up and joins an impromptu band, which goes viral. She realizes she likes Billy and shows up at his door. They get together without discussing the future, but, meanwhile, Margot is famous again. Her ex-husband, a movie star, shows up to win her back, and Margot's band gets back together. Billy tells her to go — he thinks he, and Baltimore aren't good enough for her. Margot is happy that she's back into music, but mostly she realizes she loves Billy. The story ends with them getting back together. |
