Notes:Elizabeth is a 19-year-0ld girl living in the south of England when WWII starts. She meets Bill, a flyer from a nearby base, and has a flirtation with him. When he leaves for France, she begins hanging around with Splodge, his friend, also a pilot. In time, she and Splodge get married. She also meets Doll, the wife of a flyer, and they become good friends. Together, they get a job picking fruit at an orchard owned by Tom, Elizabeth's neighbor and friend. Doll's husband is killed, as is Splodge. Bill shows up, wounded, and helps them pick fruit. After Elizabeth gets over her grief, she and Tom (who always loved her) get together.

Review - A Moment in Time

Interesting picture of the times, with a lot of the current slang and attitudes. Elizabeth, for most of the book, comes across as naive, which was intentional I'm sure, but made her hard to take seriously.
