Notes:Edith needs a place to stay until her passport arrives and she can travel to South Africa to be a nurse. At the last minute, the house she's supposed to move into falls through and she ends up staying with Henry, whom she thinks is an old man. Henry gets talked into letting Edith stay because he thinks she's an old woman. They work different schedules and communicate by letters, becoming great friends. Meanwhile, they meet in town and fall for each other — he thinks she looks like Goldie Hawn, she thinks he looks like Paul Newman — without exchanging names. Eventually they figure everything out and spend the rest of the book taking turns thinking they aren't right for each other. Edith goes to South Africa. Henry gets a great opportunity for his business. But when Edith gets sick in Africa, he rushes to her side until she's better and then they get married and move back to the states.

Review - Dear Henry, Love Edith

The whole You've Got Mail bit at the beginning is over about a third of the way through the book, but the story goes on and on and on. And the mail thing was weird anyway because they each thought the other was their grandparents' age. And since every reader, and every character in the book except for Edith and Henry, knew they would get married at the end, the constant will he or won't he, will she or won't she was irritating.
