Notes:Biography of Cash from his poor childhood in Arkansas to his final years recording with Mark Rubin. Includes good and bad — his faith in Christ, his desire to help others, his love for family, his music, his drug addiction, his womanizing, his divorce from his first wife. It gives the picture of a profound man who could never totally escape his darker side but who turned to the Lord (often through music), which gave him hope.

Review - Johnny Cash: The Life

The man was fascinating. I thought the story bogged down with details of tours and recordings that took up a lot of pages. He was certainly a compelling, fascinating, deeply flawed man.
