Notes:A quick look at the 1970 Cubs, who still had the nucleus of the heartbreaking team from 1969. They contended until the last week of the season. The author mentions several roster moves the Cubs made that did and didn't work out, blames Durocher for some of the failure, and claims the team would have won the World Series if they had been in the NL West, as geography indicates they should have been.

Review - Forgotten 1970 Chicago Cubs

Fairly routine account of the season with interesting tidbits of info here and there but not enough meat to make the reader feel close to the team. After the account of the season, it seems like he had to pad the book to get it to a certain length, so he spends several pages on a stupid what-if scenario that gives long accounts of imaginary games against the Reds and Orioles in the playoffs that "prove" the Cubs would have won the championship. He then gives brief histories of the lives after 1970 of player, coaches, broadcasters, etc. (including several who weren't even mentioned in the book). None of these are in-depth enough to be interesting. The more I read, the more bored I became.
