Notes:Emma becomes part of a circle of friends — Hawkes (the vicar), Pierce (her neighbor) and Duke Islington — who hang out together and talk books and life and who watch out for each other (well, mostly watch out for Emma). She learns by accident that the body of her fiancé, Maxwell, who died in the war in Afghanistan, has been brought home for burial, and Pierce takes her to the funeral. She also performs a favor for Mary's disreputable friend Jack, who makes her dress up like a dancehall girl and take a bracelet to an accomplice of his.
