Notes:Artemis Fowl is a boy genius. He and his bodyguard, Butler, purchase a fairy book and use it to capture Holly, one of the fairies who travel aboveground to deal with escaped trolls and so forth. He holds Holly for ransom in exchange for a ton of gold. The fairies, under Captain Root, attack, but Butler fights them off. Root sends in a troll, but Butler manages to defeat it too. The ransom is paid, but Root plans on bombing Fowl's mansion and retrieving the gold. Meanwhile, Holly has made a deal with Fowl — in exchange for curing Fowl's mother of madness, Fowl will allow her to leave with most of the gold. Fowl keeps the rest, although it's not as much as he wanted.

Review - Artemis Fowl

I know I'm not the target audience. That audience is apparently 12-year old boys who would find it funny that a dwarf can tunnel through dirt by eating it and pooping it out as he goes. Too many descriptions of fairy technology. The writing isn't terrible except when Colfer attempts similes or sarcasm. But again, I'm not the target audience.
