Description:A pilot throws a Coke bottle out of an airplane over the South African dessert. It is found by a Bushman and taken to his tribe. The bottle proves useful, but also creates resentment and anger. Xi, the head of the tribe determines to take the bottle to the end of the earth and get rid of it.

Meanwhile, in a neighboring country, the guerilla leader Mpudi attempts a coup, but it fails. He and seven of his men flee into the dessert in a jeep, chased by the military.

Kate Thompson, tired of life in the city, decides to take a position as a schoolteacher in a small village. Andrew Steyn goes to pick her up in his Land Rover that has no brakes and can’t be turned off. On the way to the village, they run into all sorts of adventures, exacerbated by Andrew’s extreme discomfort in the presence of women.

Xi kills a goat, not understanding property, and is put in jail. Andrew and his assistant Sam realize that Xi will die in jail. They get him released into their custody for the duration of his sentence.

Mpudi goes into Kate’s school and takes her and her entire class hostage. Andrew, Sam and Xi see them being led through a canyon. Xi dresses as one of the children and sneaks into the group and shoots the guerrillas with tranquilizers. Andrew manages to sneak down and capture the remaining two. Jack Hind, Andrew’s competitor for the attention of Kate, shows up and acts like the hero. Andrew despairs of ever getting Kate to like him. He determines to face her and does, making a fool of himself in the process, but Kate laughs and gives him a kiss. Xi gets the bottle and throws it off a cliff.

Sheer genius. Humorous and exciting throughout, in a way unlike any other movie I’ve seen.
