Review - Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World

I first saw this in the theater with Sally and it instantly became one of my all-time favorite movies. Of course, I already had read and loved the complete series of books by Patrick O'Brian on which the movie is based.

The pursuit of the French ship is the basis, but the appeal of the movie is the character studies of Aubrey, his close friend, naturalist/surgeon Stephen Maturin, and the other crew members. The movie also give a great picture of life on an 1805 British ship. Superb in every way.
