Snow White’s stepmother, the queen, is jealous when her magic mirror tells her Snow White is prettier than she is. The Queen instructs a huntsman to take Snow White into the woods and kill her and bring back her heart. The huntsman can’t bring himself to do it. He leaves Snow White in the woods and brings back a pig’s heart. Snow White runs through the woods in terror, then falls asleep. Animals bring her to the Dwarf’s cottage, which is a huge mess. She cleans it and makes soup for supper. The Dwarfs come home and find her, and after some initial hesitation by Grumpy, decide they love having her there.

The Queen finds out from her mirror that Snow White is still alive, so she disguises herself as an old woman and brings Snow White a poison apple that brings on the sleeping death. The animals tell the Dwarfs who rush home, too late to keep Snow White awake but in time to chase the Queen off a cliff. Snow White is laid in a glass coffin. The Prince hears about her and comes and kisses her, which wakes her up. They live happily ever after.

I could admire the art, and some of the cartooning was cute. Snow White was rather choppy and undeveloped by modern standards of beauty. The story moved pretty slow, and I can’t say I found it terribly exciting.
