Eduardo Acuña refuses to let his two younger daughters get married their older sister, Maria does. But Maria isn’t interested in any of the men she meets. In an effort to get Maria interested in romance, Eduardo starts sending her love letters from a secret admirer. Bob Davis is a dancer looking for work in Acuña’s night club. Eduardo refuses to see him, then has him take one of the letters to Maria in the mistaken assumption that he’s a bellboy. Maria sees Bob bring the letter and thinks he’s her mystery man. She falls for him, and vice-versa. There’s considerable confusion and hilarity, all mixed with singing and dancing. Maria finds out who Bob is and thinks he’s courting her just to get a job in her father’s club. She rejects him. By this time, Eduardo is in favor of Bob as a son-in-law. He tells him about Maria’s desire to be picked up by a knight in armor. Bob dons some and goes to see her. Although he falls off his horse in the process, she relents and they get married.

Pointless and plotless, but it was fun watching Astaire and Hayworth dance together. She may be a better dancer than Ginger Rogers.
