Description:An early 20th century car race across three continents. Stuntman The Great Leslie (Tony Curtis) challenges his rival Professor Fate (Jack Lemmon) to a car race across three continents. Leslie's helper was Hezekiah (Keenan Wynn), Fate's was Max (Peter Falk). Reporter Maggie Dubois (Natalie Wood) manages to stick around to report on things, sometimes riding with one driver and sometimes with the other, but never wanted—until she and Leslie fall in love and get married. They get hung up for a while in a European country where schemers kidnap the crown prince (also Jack Lemmon) and replace him with Fate, who happens to be his doppelganger. It all gets resolved in a giant pie fight. Leslie stops just before the finish line to prove he loves Maggie. Fate, unhappy with being allowed to win, insists on another race.

Review - Great Race, The

Not intended to be taken seriously. It's a throwback to old silent movies. Lemmon's screeching got old by the time it was over, and Curtis lacks charm, but Falk and the lovely Wood keep things going and there are genuine slapstick laughs throughout.
