Reviews for Bullitt
Review - Bullitt
Lt. Bullitt is given the job of protecting mob witness Ross. When Ross is gunned down, Bullitt determines to find the killer in spite of the pressure he’s getting from the assistant DA. There isn’t a whole lot of plot. In the end, it turns out that Ross had a used-car salesman impersonate him, then had his men kill the salesman. He planned on using the salesman’s tickets to leave the country with the mob’s money, but Bullitt finds out and guns him down after a long chase through the airport. Earlier in the movie, there’s a long car chase through the streets of San Francisco as Bullitt chases Ross’s henchmen who killed the saleman.
Not a lot of plot, and a lot of atmosphere shots with characters standing around, but somehow it works and keeps my interest. Jacqueline Bisset, in an early role, was stunning.
