| Description: | Three servicemen return home after WWII. Army sgt. Al Stephenson (Fredric March) has it easiest. He has a loving wife (Myrna Loy) and a job as vice-president at a bank. Sailor Homer Parrish (Harold Russell) has lost both his hands and doesn't think his girlfriend Wilma (Cathy O'Donnell) will want him anymore, but she proves true and they marry. Air Force Captain Fred Derry (Dana Andrews) had gotten married to Marie (Virginia Mayo) just before he was deployed. He has a hard time tracking her down when he gets home, so he spends some time with Al's family and falls in love with Al's daughter, Peggy (Teresa Wright) but vows to stay away from her. He tries to make things work with Marie, but when he loses his job, she divorces him. Fred finds a low-paying job and meets Peggy again at Homer's wedding and they get together. |
