Reviews for The Boat

Review - Boat, The

A man builds a boat in his basement, then discovers it is too large to fit out the door. In trying to get it out, the house collapses. He sets sail with his wife and two sons, but not before their car also ends up in the ocean. On the seas, they encounter a storm. His misguided attempts to keep afloat go for naught, and they family is set adrift in a bathtub. When that sinks … they discover they’re in three feet of water and walk ashore.

That’s the plot. (It was only 20 minutes long.) The reason for watching is Keaton’s deadpan comedy. He portrays a man who never quits trying but for whom nothing ever works. Sally and I were both amused by how patient and longsuffering his wife was.
