Review - Champagne

Rich girl Betty flees from her father and crashes his plane in the ocean near the ship on which her fiancé is traveling. The plan on getting married in spite of Daddy’s wishes, but they fight. When they get to Paris, Betty lives the wild life. Her fiancé catches up with her, but is disturbed by her lifestyle. Daddy flies over and reveals that he’s been ruined in the stock market and no longer has any money.

Betty goes out to look for work. She ends up as a flower girl in a sleazy bar where she meets a man that she knew from the ship and from her rich days in Paris. She isn’t sure if he’s a nice guy or a wolf. When her former fiancé shows up, she, out of pride, puts on an act as though she enjoys her job. The boyfriend gets her father who admits that he still has his money. She gets angry and flees to the man from the ship. He takes her on board and locks her in his cabin. She thinks he’s about to seduce her, so when the door opens she attacks. It turns out to be her former fiancé, followed by her father and the man. It turns out the man is a friend of Daddy who was asked to follow Betty and keep her from getting married. But now Daddy realizes the boyfriend is a good guy and sanctions the marriage.

Slow-moving and silly. I wasn’t sure what was going on much of the time.
