Buddy Hall is a car salesman who just moved into town with his wife and twin daughters. His house is across the street from Steve Finch, an optometrist who lives with his wife, teenage daughter and young son. Buddy decides he wants his house to be visible from space. He buys every set of Christmas lights in town and covers his house with them. Steve is big into Christmas traditions and is irritated by Buddy’s display. The two start to bicker, and the bickering gets more and more out of line until both their families leave. Steve and Buddy make friends in their loneliness and team up to win their families back. Then Steve organizes the entire town to help Buddy realize his goal.

Haven’t we seen this before? It was silly, of course, and implausible and corny (that kind of stupid corniness that gives me goose bumps). I rated it a 5. Sally was more generous and laughed through much of it.
