Review - Ghostbusters II

The Ghostbusters are out of business and involved in various psychic-related jobs. Dana, married and divorced since the last movie, is out walking her son in his carriage one day when the carriage takes off on its own. She finally catches it, then goes and talks to the Ghostbusters. They investigate and find a river of slime beneath New York.

Dana works at an art museum. Her boss, Poha, is controlled by Vigo, a 11th-century tyrant who possesses one of the pictures. Vigo wants a child so he can start life over again. Poha decides to give him Dana’s son. Meanwhile, Venkman and Spangler discover that the slime is good or evil, depending on the mood of the people around it. As it is drawn to Vigo, it gets malicious.

The mayor’s minion has the Ghostbusters committed to a hospital to get them out of the way, but when Vigo makes his move, the mayor lets them loose. They confront Vigo in the museum just as he attempts to take over the baby’s body. The Ghostbusters are losing the battle because the people of New York are so crabby. They spray the Statue of Liberty with slime to animate her, then walk her through the city to get everyone to feel good. It works, and they defeat Vigo.

Not nearly as funny or suspenceful as the first one. The actors all seemed rather tired. There were a few chuckle lines, but not many.
