Review - I'm with Lucy

Lucy goes on five blind dates in a year with varying success. We know she’s going to marry one of the five guys, but we don’t know which. The first, when she was first getting back into dating after a long relationship ended, was a disaster. She was drunk and stupid and the guy was dull but patient and they ended friends but nothing more. The second was a playwright who had a stream in his living room. Lucy fell into bed with him immediately, then discovered they had nothing to talk about. The third was Bobby Staley, and ex-big league catcher. Lucy took him to a Vivaldi concert which he hated, but they ended the night as friends. Lucy introduces him to one of her friends and they hit it off. Lucy’s date number five was Barry, who works in a computer store. On their date, she’s suffering from allergies and they run into her parents who insist on taking them home and feeding them and showing old home movies. Date five was with Luke, a doctor who seems perfect, even if he does spend the date flirting with a younger girl. But that gets patched up and it seems Lucy’s going to marry him. But then she runs into Barry on her way to dinner with Luke. Barry invites her to a party, but she says no. Barry shows up with a film he made of home movies of the two of them spliced together. She thinks it’s sweet, but then Luke shows up. She goes out with Luke and he throws a tantrum when a waiter spills wine on him. She leaves and goes to Barry’s party and they get married.

Cute device, but they didn’t carry it through enough. Monica Potter is cute (and a Julia Roberts clone), but Lucy’s character was different with each guy and made no sense. Still, there were enough fun moments that I gave it a 7.
