Review - King Arthur

Arthur, half British and half Roman, leads his knights, pledged since they were young boys to fight for Rome, in support of the Empire in Northern Britain by Hadrian’s Wall. On they day that the knights were to be given their release and allowed to go home, they are given one final mission. A prominent Roman lives north of the wall and is about to be swallowed up by the invading Saxon army. Arthur and his six men travel north and find the Roman, a brutish man who has made slaves of the local people. Arthur frees the people, including Guinevere, a young woman who is a Wode warrior, and encourages them to come with him to escape the Saxon’s. The Saxons pursue, and half their army is sunk in a lake when the ice breaks under Dagonet’s axe. Dagonet is killed in the battle. Back at the wall, the knights are given their freedom. The Romans who man the wall are called back to Rome, leaving the British people to the Saxons. Arthur is in love with Guinevere by this time and agrees to stay and fight with her people. The rest of the knights decide to stay also. The Saxons are defeated in a huge battle. Lancelot and Tristan are killed. Arthur and Guinevere marry and the knights stay in Britain.

Pretty good, although the final battle scene is long and somewhat boring. Also the idea of Keira Knightley as a warrior in a bikini made of sticks defeating a string of armored Saxon warriors was a bit much. The knights were cool, with their byplay and swagger.
