Review - Krippendorf's Tribe
A really stupid movie about an anthropology professor whose wife dies. He goes to seed, and his three kids are basically raising themselves. Then the time of his grant ends and he’s forced to give a lecture about a lost tribe he’s claimed to find. He makes up a tribe and takes pictures of his kids (his high-school daughter is very reluctant) in costume. He fakes everyone out and gets his own TV special and another grant. A new professor, Veronica, helps him out and they end up in bed — after he gets her drunk and has her dress up like a native. When she sees footage of their tryst on the TV special, she figures out what he’s up to. She demands half his grant money. Another professor at the college goes to New Guinea to look for the tribe she suspects doesn’t exist. But the daughter phones the chief of a civilized tribe and has him and his people pretend to be the lost tribe so the professor is fooled.
Not believable or particularly funny on any level.
