Review - Lady in the Lake

Marlowe is hired by Adrienne Fromsett to find the wife of her boss, Derris Kingsby. He soon gets mixed up with the cops and particularly Lt. DeGarmot, a snaky little man who keeps trying to frame Marlowe for drunk driving. A bunch of people get killed and several women are discovered to be missing, but when all is said and done, it was Trixie from the Honeymooners who killed Kingsby’s wife and DeGarmot who was in love with her and trying to cover up for her, right up until the point when he shot her. Marlowe ends up with the terminally annoying Fromsett.

It was a stupid movie that was almost — but not quite — so bad that it was good. It was shot as though filmed through the eyes of Marlowe who only showed up in mirrors and in occasional pieces in his office where he explained things that happened off camera. The plot was pointless and the camera trick was laughable.
