Anthony Hopkins is William Parrish, a wealthy business man with two daughters. Brad Pitt is Death who appears in the body of a man that Bill's younger daughter Susan (Claire Forlani) meets in a coffee shop. A short time after they part, the man is hit by a car and Death takes over his body. When William suffers a heart attack, Death makes a deal. William can live a while longer if he'll let Death tag along and experience life. In a short time, Death helps William expose a criminal who's trying to take over his business and falls in love with Susan. Death wants to take Susan with him, but William convinces Death that true love sacrifices. In the end, Death takes William, but leaves Susan and brings back the man from the coffee shop.

It was strange and a bit distasteful in places, but all the main characters were likeable and the ending was pretty classy.
