Review - Mission: Impossible

When a mission to capture a traitor goes awry and most of his teammates are murdered, Ethan Hunt is suspected of disloyalty. He decides to try to find out the real guilty party on his own. One of his teammates, Claire, who was the wife of the team leader Jim, shows up and offers to help. Ethan also recruits two disavowed agents, Krieger and Stickell. They steal a list of agents from CIA headquarters, the offer to sell it to the enemy while traveling to France on the tunnel train. Jim Phelps shows up, not dead after all. He claims to be helping Ethan, but Ethan knows he’s the real traitor. But he doesn’t know of Claire is helping Jim, so he arranges a sting and exposes her too. But Claire balks at killing Ethan, so Jim kills her (his own wife!). Jim tries to escape by climbing on the train roof and climbing onto a helicopter piloted by Krieger. Ethan goes after him and makes the train crash. Luther stops the transfer of the agent list and is reinstated. Ethan is exonerated and given another assignment.

I never watched the original show, so I don’t really have anything to compare it to. It was a fun, but standard spy movie with some fairly-predictable twists.
