Review - Paycheck

Michael is a reverse-engineer — he takes apart technology for competitors, then has his memories erased. His old friend James contacts him about a three-year job for several million dollars. When the three years are over and his memories are erased, Michael finds out he has turned down the money and sent himself an envelope with twenty innocuous-seeming everyday items. These items soon help him get out of jams, including arrest by the FBI, and he soon realizes he was involved with a project that enabled seeing into the future.

He gets in touch with Rachel, a technician from James’ company. Michael and Rachel had a relationship Michael no longer remembers, but Rachel finds him and helps him. James sends his henchman Wolfe after Michael, and he’s almost killed several times, but the items in the envelope keep getting him out of spots. Finally, Michael and Rachel go back to the company and destroy the machine, managing to escape death one last time and get away together — with a winning lottery ticket.

Interesting, but it wouldn’t stand up to a great deal of thought. Still, the idea of sending yourself items to help you in the future is clever.
