Review - Random Hearts

D.C. cop Dutch Van Den Broeck finds out his wife died in the crash of a plane she wasn’t supposed to be on. When he finds out she was registered as the wife of a Mr. Chandler, he realizes she was having an affair. He tracks down Chandler’s wife Kay who is running for Congress. He keeps looking for some clue to why it happened. She puts him off at first, then goes along. In their distress and sorrow, they fall for each other and have a fling. They quarrel while looking over the apartment that their spouses shared. Kay leaves, Dutch follows and is shot twice by a Beaufort, a crooked cop that Dutch was investigating. Kay hangs around to make sure Dutch will live, then goes to her New Hampshire campaign. She loses. On her way out of D.C., she meets Dutch in the airport and agrees that he can call her sometime.

Long, slow moving and sappy. It was basically a soap opera. The only redeeming feature was the likeability of the two main characters. I felt for them and rooted for them.
