| Description: | Kansas farm boy Brantley (Michael J. Fox) goes to New York determined to make big. He gets a job in the mailroom from his uncle, Howard Prescott, who runs a large corporation. Not satisfied with his lowly position, he takes over an empty office and assumes the persona of Carlton Whitfield. The corporation is being taken over, and Brantley, as Whitfield hatches a scheme to keep it from happening. He also gets involved with two women. One is Prescott’s wife, Vera (who, in a rather sick twist, also is Brantley’s aunt). The other is executive Christy Wills (Helen Slater), who is Prescott’s mistress. In a last ditch strategy session at Prescott’s estate, Vera introduces Brantley to several high-powered executives from other corporations, and they all take a liking to him. That night, the four main characters run into each other and discover everyone’s identity and who’s been sleeping with whom. But Brantley and Christy love each other and decide to take over the company with Vera’s help. The buy up enough stock with the help of the executives Brantley met at the estate and fire Prescott. Brantley becomes president and marries Christy. Vera takes up with Fred, Brantley’s friend from the mailroom. |
