Review - Seven Men from Now

Sheriff Ben Stride loses his job. His wife has to go to work as a clerk in the Wells Fargo office. When seven men hold up the office, she is killed. Stride goes after the men and the $20,000 they stole. He meets up with John Greer and his wife Annie who are traveling to California and rides with them to help them avoid troublesome Indians. They also meet Bill Masters and his buddy Clete who are also after the money for their own use. When Masters makes a move on Annie, Stride chases him away.

Masters rides ahead to town and meets the Bodeen, one of the four remaining outlaws that Stride is after. (He’s already killed three.) They tell Masters that John Greer has the money because they hired him to carry it to them in the town. Bodeen sends two of his men after Stride. They are killed, but Stride is wounded. The Greers come upon Stride, and he finds out about the money. He takes it from them. Greer has a change of heart and determines to go into town to get help for Stride. Bodeen kills him. Bodeen and his remaining outlaw go after Stride. Masters and Clete follow. Masters kills the two men and then kills his own buddy Clete. Stride and Masters show down over the money, and Stride kills Masters. He finds Annie and tells her he’s going back to his old town to be deputy. She decides to follow.

OK, but it somehow didn’t really thrill me. I don’t care for Randolph Scott. He seems too wooden.
