Description:A musical remake of Ninotchka. Steve Canfield (Fred Astaire) is an American producer in Paris. He wants to use the music of a Russian composer for his next movie. The Russians send three agents to retrieve the composer, but Steve distracts them with Paris culture and girls. The Russians then send Ninotchka Yoschenko (Cyd Charisse) to get the four men, but she soon falls under the spell of Steve. But when they find out the Russian composer's music has been turned into Rock & Roll, they all head back to Russia. Steve pulls strings and gets the three agents back in Paris where they open a night club. Ninotchka is sent after them again and as soon as she meets Steve, she agrees to marry him.

Review - Silk Stockings

Cyd Charisse is class personified. Fred Astaire was too old here to play the romantic lead but he could still dance. The Russians were played purely for comedy, and Peter Loree was particularly ridiculous in his role — and not in a good way. The songs were mediocre and the story was silly. Without Charisse, this would have been forgotten long ago.
