Description:While traveling with Rachel (Kelly McGillis), his widowed mother, young Amish boy Samuel Lapp sees a murder in a Philadelphia train station. John Book (Harrison Ford) is given the case, and when Samuel identifies a crooked cop (Danny Glover) as the murderer, Book tells his chief. When an attempt is made on Book's life (and he is wounded) soon afterwards, Book realizes the chief is in on it. He grabs Rachel and Samuel and takes them to Rachel’s father’s farm. He’s too hurt to leave, so Rachel cares for him. Book and Rachel begin falling in love. The chief finally locates Book and comes to the farm with two of his men. Book manages to kill two of them and arrest the chief, but he goes back to Philadelphia, realizing his ways are too different from Rachel’s.

Review - Witness

The settings are beautiful, and the picture of Amish life is interesting. Ford’s and McGillis’s characters are both likeable. But too much time is spent with Book and Rachel staring at each other. It tries it be a thriller and a love story, but it bogs down much of the time.
