Description:James Garner plays Jason McCullough, a stranger on his way to find gold in Australia. On the way, he passes through a small western town ruled by a local gang. He needs a job, so he signs up as sheriff and arrests one of the gang. The other members plan revenge, and all the sheriff has to help him is the town drunk and the mayor's eccentric daughter.

Meant to be a comedy, but not overly funny. Still, Garner is pretty good as the deadpan sheriff and Joan Hackett is entertaining as Prudy Perkins, the sheriff's love.
