Review - Collector, The
I've read the book and saw most of the movie a long time ago, so it didn't have the impact this time. Still, it was compelling if a bit slow moving.

| Description: | A pathetic loner who collects butterflies for a hobby decides to "collect" the girl he admires. He kidnaps her and keeps her prisoner in his cellar, hoping that some day she will come to admire and love him. She makes a deal with him to be sociable for a month if he'll release her at that time. At the end of the month, he refuses still. She tries to seduce him, but he rejects her. She hits him with a shovel. He locks her in the cellar, and goes to the hospital. Three days later, he returns and she's almost dead. He pretends to go for a doctor, but leaves the door open. She's too sick to take advantage and dies. He goes in search of another girl. |
