Review - His Majesty O'Keefe
Overly complicated, hokey and uninteresting throughout.

Description: | Captain O'Keefe (Burt Lancaster) is a trader in the Pacific. He happens upon an island, nominally owned by Germany, that has millions of dollars worth of coconut oil. The only problem is that O'Keefe can't find a way to get the natives to harvest it. He travels to a nearby island where they gather their sacred stones and works out a stone for coconut oil trade. He also marries the half-breed daughter of another trader. Back on the coconut island, a slaver shows up and captures most of the natives. O'Keefe arrives and rescues them. The natives make him their king. He's only interested in money until a riff between rival factions on the island threatens to turn into war. With the encouragement of his wife, he determines to forego the money and reign as their peaceful king. |
