| Description: | Master Gunnery Sgt. James O'Hearn (Burt Lancaster) tries to keep his buddy Pvt. Davey White (Chuck Conners) from marrying Shanghai bar girl Ginger Martin (Virginia Mayo). This causes them to miss their troop ship. They end up in a small boat floating at sea. They get picked up by a junk and dropped off on a French Island in the South Pacific. The French commander is cooperating with the Germans. They grab some ammunition and weapons and steal a German yacht. They meet a Japanese battleship escorting troop boats. They attack and get sunk. Ginger admits she loves both of them. White dies in the attack. O'Hearn is brought up for court martial, but Ginger shows up and tells what happened. They end up getting married. |
