Description:English title: Black Book
Rachel Stein (Carice van Houten) is a Dutch Jew hiding from the Germans during WWII. She's given an opportunity to flee the Nazis with her family, but it's a set up and everyone is killed except Rachel. She changes her identity and joins the Dutch resistance. She's sent to German headquarters where she becomes the mistress of a German officer who is trying to stop the bloodshed because he knows the war is over. An attempt to free some prisoners goes wrong and many resistance fighters are killed. The Germans frame Rachel, so the resistance is also seeking her death. When the war ends, she's tormented by the Dutch for being a collaborator. She happens upon a book kept by a Dutch traitor that proves her innocence. The movie ends, and begins, with her as a married schoolteacher in Israel.

Review - Zwartboek

Graphic, but powerful. It gave what I imagine to be a true picture of the horrors of war. Everybody Rachel depended on was either killed or turned against her at some point.
