Description:James Carmody (Humphrey Bogart) is a pilot in China. When his plane crashes, he's forced to work for a warlord. When the warlord's men kill a priest, Carmody sees his chance to escape. He assumes the priest's identity and travels to a small mission. He falls in love with Anne Scott (Gene Tierney). When the warlord discovers where Carmody is, he brings his army to the mission. Carmody throws dice with him for the fate of the village. When he wins, the people consider it a miracle. Carmody, however, writes a letter to another mission and confesses what has happened. He leaves with the blessings of the people.

Review - Left Hand of God, The

Rather dull and unconvincing. And there's no reason Anne didn't leave with Carmody at the end, but since she didn't, there's little point to the plot.
