Review - Field of Dreams
Corny and ridiculous with tons of plot holes, but still somehow moving. "Is this heaven?" "No, it's Iowa."

| Description: | A farmer, Ray Kinsella (Kevin Costner) hears a mysterious voice that tells him to build a baseball diamond in his cornfield. His wife Annie (Amy Madigan) supports him, but his family and the entire town things he's nuts. Several months after the field is built, a lone ballplayer shows up. It turns out to be Shoeless Joe Jackson (Ray Liotta). He returns with all the Black Sox players and then with several other old-time players, all who yearn for one more chance to play. Ray's voice returns and tells him to find Terrance Mann (James Earl Jones), a disillusioned writer, and Archibald Graham (Burt Lancaster) a player who never had a big-league at-bat. Both of them have their dreams fulfilled at Ray's field. But then the whole purpose is revealed when Ray's dad, John shows up and the two have a chance to settle the differences left unsettled when John died. |
