Review - Moulin Rouge!
Certainly spectacular in terms of color, editing and sound. I found myself rooting for the lovers but not in a way that lasted beyond the closing credits.

| Description: | A musical about Christian (Ewan McGregor) a poor writer in Paris who falls in love with Satine (Nicole Kidman), the star dancer at a night club. Satine loves him in return but is forced to pretend to love the Duke who is financing the show. When the Duke finds out about Christian, he forces Satine to send him away or threatens to kill him. Christian can't bring himself to leave and shows up on opening night. He doesn't realize that Satine is dying of consumption. The two lovers can't resist each other, and Satine dies in Christian's arms at the end of the show while the Duke walks away into the night. The movie only had one original song — all the others were old and modern love songs re-edited to fit the plot. |
