Review - Mirage
Pretty good. The movie kept me guessing for a long time. But it didn't seem very realistic, somehow.

Description: | David Stillwell (Gregory Peck) finds himself in building with no electricity. He makes his way outside to discover a man who has just fallen to his death from an upper story. David goes home and finds another man, this one with a gun, who wants to take him to see the "major." David realizes he has amnesia and tries to discover who he is. Several people who try to help him — the doorman, a private detective (Walter Matthau) — are killed. A woman names Shiela claims that she wants to help, but David doesn't know if she can be trusted. Finally, the pieces start coming back to him. He goes to the major's office where he is held a gunpoint. He remembers that man who fell to his death was a scientist working for peace. He hired David to develop a means of eliminating nuclear fallout, which David did. But then the scientist wants David to turn the formula over to the major. David refuses. They fight over the paper, and the scientist falls out the window. Now the major wants the formula. David is about to be killed, but Shiela intervenes and saves him. The major is arrested for killing the detective. There's more to it than that, but that covers the basics. |
