Description:Joe Norson (Farley Granger) is a part-time postman in NYC. He spots a man putting $200 in a filing cabinet one day and greed gets the better of him. The next day he takes it — only to discover he's really taken $30,000 (the payoff in a blackmail scheme). His wife Ellen (Cathy O'Donnell) is having a baby, so she doesn't know what Joe's up to. Joe leaves the money with a bartender to takes off with it. Soon the blackmailers and the cops are after Joe. The movie ends with a long car chase. All the bad guys get their due and Joe falls into the hands of a sympathetic cop who helps him get his life back.

Review - Side Street

Fun, although I knew early that it would end happily somehow. The major flaw was the way the cops kept one step behind Joe with no explanation for how they were able to figure out what he was up to.
